My husband's great-grandparents were Edward and Mary Brass of Norwegian
descent. They lived at Quoyloo, Sandwick--close to Scapa Flow. They
had 4 sons (infant son that died, Paul, Wallace, and Edward). and 3
daughters (Jean, Isabelle and Mary). William married Anna Sutherland
from Glasgow. Had a farm in Oakmont, PA. They had 5 daughters and one
son.
Edward at the age of 16 escorted William's wife to the States. Married
Bess Milligan and lived in the north side of Pittsburgh.
David joined the Hudson Bay Furriers and died of typhoid fever in
British Colombia.
Jean (Spence) had several sons. One son, John, came to Pittsburgh and
died of T.B.
Isabelle married a cousin named Scarth. 2 sons, George and Robert.
George was a professor of botany in Montreal. Robert lived in
Kirkwall.
Mary remained single and cared for her parents until their death.
This is all of the information that we have--with no dates except for
tombstones which we will have to locate the pictures we have.
