The University of Oregon library might have copies of the Florence
paper.

I would guess that it is a privately owned assisted-living or
foster home
for the elderly. Did you try viewing it on Google Earth?

I have had no luck finding an obit for a death in Florence. I do,
however, now have a street address for the man I want. It is: 88604
3rd
Ave, Florence. Since he died in 2002, this address is at least that
old.
There are 7 people listed living there, with 4 different surnames.
Is
there anyone on this list who might have some idea what is or would
have
been at this address?
I am looking for Paul N. Loomis. Per the SSDI Paul died 25 Nov 2002
in
Florence. One person on this list looked for an obit in the
News-Register but didn't find one. The Siuslaw News in Florence
doesn't
keep obits longer than a year. The Siuslaw Museum told me they have
a
good obit collection but they could not find one for him. I am
reasonably certain he is the Paul Loomis I want as the year of birth
and
middle initial are the same as his. I am just trying to find
something
more recent for this man. I thought the address might tell me
something.
The Paul Loomis I want was married to my half first-cousin, Emma
Lathrope. Emma died in Manhattan State Hospital 18 April 1943. Per
her
1937 marriage cert to Paul, he was a machinist. The only Paul N.
Loomis
I can find since is a playwright. A Paul N. Loomis produced at least
one
play in NY, where my Lathrope family originated. I found another
Paul N.
Loomis teaching and producing plays at the University of Northern
Texas.
Otherwise, I can find no trace of Paul.
If anyone has any ideas, I would be open to suggestion. One reason I
am
doing research is to understand why my father's family
disintegrated. So
far I have found three half 1st cousins of mine who died in mental
hospitals, likely a good clue as to why. I never knew any of these
people. I didn't know the names of my father's siblings or anything
else
when I started looking. I would like to find as much as possible
about
what went on here. Paul Loomis looks like he might be a good place
for
clues. I would especially like to find a living person who knows
something. I sent for his SSA, but it still might not tell me if he
is
the same person as the man writing plays later in life. So far I
have
not found any playwright bios for Paul Loomis. Maybe his living
arrangements would tell me something.
