Since I am new to the list, I need to know how to reach orphanages in the
various states--Illinois to start. One of my aunts (by marriage) was born
in Illinois in 1900 (according to the census of 1920), but was with another
family when she married my uncle in Colorado in Sept. 1917. A man who gave
written permission for their marriage listed himself as "foster father". I
don't believe that actual, legal, foster parents were established that
early. I'd very much like to find some info on her background--either
parent, birth info or something about her early life. Not sure that she was
ever in an orphanage, but know it is a possibility.
