Don, I have to admit the I have never hear of the firm either. I grew up
there and my parents ran a grocery store on 2nd street across from
Riveria grade school from 1947 until 1986. How ever in the 1893 city
directory of La Grande there is a C.R. Thornton who was a architect in
the Haworth and Thornton building. I haven't a clue to which building
there are refering to. I will ask my parents this weekend, they still
live in La Grande, when I talk to them if either of them remember a
Thornton Fruit company. My dad in 75 and might just know.
ALso just a thought you might write to the cout house and ask them about
the Assumed Business Names Registers for 1913 to 1953. It has an indes
for the 2 volumes. It use to be in the clerks basement vault, but it
might be in a different place now they are in a new building. Sharon in
Idaho
