Miss Lenore Woodcock was a caller in Tygh Valley Tuesday
Mrs. Bailes Bourland, accompanied by her sisters, Mrs. Paul Benedict and
Mrs. Pearl Wright went to the mountains near Mt. Adams Tuesday remaining
until Thursday picking huchkleberries.
Mike Urban and daughter, Etta, went to Aurora, Tuesday, where they
visited with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Light of Tangent, Mrs. P.O. Light and daughter
Manilla, of McMinnville and Mr. and Mrs. Parks, who are visitors in Oregon
from Idaho, visited here at the home of Mr. and Mr. Paul Light from Tuesday
until Thursday.
Mike and Evelyn Miller were here from Tygh Valley Tuesday. Everlyn
Miller remained at the home of her sister, Mrs. Oscar Johnson.
Mr and Mrs. W.H. Johnson visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Nelson at Smock Wednesday.
Frank Driver Jr., of Portland arrived here Wednesday for a short visit
with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Driver
Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Woodcook and daughter, Mrs. W.E. Hunt Jr. were shopping
in The Dalles Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. P.B. Driver and son Brenton and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wharton
and son John Robert left here early Wednesday morning for a trip across the
McKenzie Pass and to the coast, where they plan to spend a week.
Lane Johnson went to Portland to visit with his sister, Miss Hazel, who
is attending business college there.
John Conroy was through here Thursday en route to the Wamic Lumber
company mill after lumber.
Mrs. Rachel Driver and Mrs. Mary Gibson spend Thursday afternoon at Tygh
Valley visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kistner.
Miss Nadine Harvey and Vernon Woodcock wre callers in Maupin Thursday.
A.F. Berhagen was a business caller at Tygh Valley Thursday
Norma Brittain visited here last week at the home of her grandmother,

James Zumwalt has charge of the store during the absence of Mr. and Mrs.
Wharton
Forest Urban went to Tygh Valley Thursday
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Kennedy, Mrs. Bettie Palmateer, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert
Morrow and daughter Helen, Bertha Muller and Bill Zumwalt went to Ollala
Lake Thursday remaining there until Monday.
Mr and Mrs Chas Crabtree were Tygh Valley callers Thursday evening
Mrs Herman Gesh and Mrs. Bill Willard and children were Maupin visitors
Sunday
Mr and Mrs John Eubanks, Mr and Mrs J E Woodcock and family, Mr and Mrs
F M Driver and Frank Driver Jr attended the Harman reunion at Bear Springs
Sunday. Nearly a hundred friends and relatives were present
Mrs Louis Woodside and children of Juniper Flat visited Mrs Woodside's
parents, Mr. and Mres. Bruce Driver here Sunday
Jack Savage was a Dufur caller Sunday
Mr and Mrs Chas Crabtree spent Sunday at Bear Springs visiting their
daughter, Mrs. Jack Slavens. Mrs Crabtree stayed for a few days visit.
Mr and Mrs J D Campbell were Dalles visitors Friday
Friday evening while cranking a Ford, Carl Wrenn broke his right arm
just above the wrist. He was taken to Dr Elwood to have the bone set
Thorburn Hansen, son of Mr and Mrs Kirk Hansen, fell from a horse
Saturday morning and broke his arm
Eldon and Verl Fraley of THe Dalles visited at the W.T. Norval home Friday.
Mr and Mrs Frank Magill and daughter Gertrude, and Mr and Mrs Harry Ross
spent Sunday at Post Camp
Guy Brittan and family moved to Smock to harvest their wheat crop there
Mr and Mrs Winifred Gibson of Bend spent the week-end at the W.H.
Johnson home. They were accompanied on their return by Mrs Gibson's
mother, Mrs. Mary Gibson, who has spent some time here visiting relatives.
George Wing and family, who have spent several months at Ashland,
returned to their home here Saturday.
Mr and Mrs W M Driver and son, Lyle went to the mountains Monday to get
huckleberries
Mrs Harry Miller of Tygh Valley was here a short time Monday. Evalynee
Miller accompanied her home for a visit
Mrs Flora Savage left last week for yakima, where she is visiting relatives
Tom Swett and nephew of Dufur spent Sunday fishing at Boulder Lake
Dr. Elwood was called here Thursday to see the small daughter of Bill
Willard
W E Woodcock was a Maupin visitor Friday
Jim Zumwalt, Mr and Mrs W E Hunt Jr., Leslie and Lenore Woodcock and
Henry Wing were among those who attended the dance at Shady Brook Saturday
night.
Harry Sims returned to his home Saturday after being employed at the
Wamic Lumber company mill during the spring and summer
Mrs. W E Hunt Jr and Miss Lenore Woodcock were Dalles callers Monday
Miss Olga Abbott of Wapinitia spent Sunday night at the J E Woodcock
home on Smock
Bertha Muller of Tygh Valley was here Monday
Mr and Mrs George Nelson visited Sunday at Simnasho
Mr and Mrs. Harry Ayers and Mr and Mrs George Ayers and children came up
from the Valley and visited their parents on Smock last week
Mrs Cecil Mayfield, Alfred Swails and Carl Wrenn were Maupin visitors
Saturday night
Word was received here recently of the marriage of George Craft to Miss
Alta Irene DeShazer of Hawaii. Mr. Craft will be remembered by the younger
folks as having attended school both here and at Smock, where his family
lived for a number of years. Mr. Craft is a graduate of Oregon State
College, majoring in pharmacy. The young couple will make their home in
Wailuku, Hawaii
George Nelson received word Monday of the death of his father. They
drove to Portland Monday evening accompanied by Leo Nelson
Mr and Mrs Harry Lewis and family visited Sunday at their daughter's
home on Juniper Flat.
Mrs Friend LuCore of Maupin visited with her parents, Mr and Mrs S.G.
Ledford of Smock last week
Jim Zumwalt and Vernie WIng went to The Dalles Sunday to attend a show
Elwood Smith and Nyl Hill went to Mollala Satruday returning Sunday.
While they they visited Mr. Smith's mother, Mrs. Claude Jones and family
Mr and Mrs E. Ashley and two daughters spent Saturday and Sunday in the
mountains near Swim picking huckleberries.
