Surnames: McMillan, Elder, Eckford, Ott, Colpitts
Daisy Bell (McMillan) Elder, 77, a former resident of The Dalles, died
at her home in northern Portland on February 24, 2002.
She was born March 26, 1924 in Livingston, Tennessee. She married Hubert
B. Elder in 1951 and moved to The Dalles where Colonel H.B. Elder was
Chief Engineer for the Corps of Engineers on The Dalles Dam and later
was also Chief Engineer on John Day Dam.
>From 1963 to 1968 the family temporarily resided in Lahore, Pakistan,
where he supervised construction of a large international irrigation
project.
He later served as Wasco County Judge.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Portland in 1986. She
attended Eastside Church of Christ and was a member of Daughters of the
Nile.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Dixie and Patrick
Eckford, Portland; and Wendy and Stephen Ott, The Dalles; a brother,
John McMillan, Oroville, California; a sister, Mary Colpitts,
Manchester, Conneticut; and four grandchildren, Stephanie, Natalie,
Isaac and Ivan.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, at
Holman Funeral Service, 2610 SE Hawthorne Boulevard.
