Surnames: Kane, Charles, Henkle, Backson, Kiff, Greif, Herrera
Jack Thomas Kane, 64, a former resident of The Dalles, died of cancer on May
30,
2003.
He was born in The Dalles on August 8, 1938 to Ellwood Thomas Kane and
Juliette
Josephine (Charles) Kane.
He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1956 and attended Oregon State
University and graduated from Eastern Oregon State University in 1963.
He moved to Portland in 1963 and had lived there for 40 years.
He married Virginia Henkle on December 28, 1963.
He was a retired teacher and taught for 30 years in the Pleasant Valley and
Centennial districts.
Other than his wife, survivors include three daughters, Kristen Backson,
Plainfield, Illinois; Sally Kiff, Santa Cruz, California; and Colleen Kane,
Portland; a son, Peter Kane, Portland; two sisters, Nadiene Greif, North
Bend,
(Oregon) and Linda Herrera, Sun City, Arizona; and six grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at St. Joseph the
Worker Catholic Church in Portland.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
