I got some helpful hints, but no solid answers, so at the beginning of this new year I thought it would be a good time to try again. Here is a portion of the one clue I'm going by, which is a translation of an 1829 Overlijdensakte (Death Certificate) from the municipality of Kollumerland en Nieuw Kruisland, Province of Friesland, The Netherlands:

Other Dutch records show the name being used as Staubie, Stabi, or Stabie, and I'm guessing one of these latter names is how it was used in Germany. Also, as far as I can tell, there is no Vreburg in Germany. I'm guessing that this is the Dutch translation of Friedeburg, which is in Ostfriesland.

Their marriage record has not been found, but what is to believed to be their first child, a daughter named Maria Doradia Stobi (yes, another spelling!), was born 24 April 1796 in Visvliet, Groningen. This naming pattern follows the death certificate above stating that Johannes' mother's name was Marija, although it is unfortnate that her second or maiden name was not listed. A later son was named Koenraad Johannes, further proof that the correct parents are listed on the death certificate. Death records of Johannes' parents could not be found in The Netherlands, so I'm assuming they died in Germany.

Sometime during their lifetimes they moved further west across the border into Friesland, where they each died in Burum.

However, I am hopeful that one of you will have specific information on this name and how to document Johannes' presence in Germany. Thanks for any help.

Hello and sorry,
I don't know why the linebreak does not work on your mail.

There is a Vreburg. It's at the Stollhammer Wisch
PLZ 26969, location +5331 +00824.
Stollhamm is in the area of Budjadingen. That's the place
of land between the river Weser and the Jadebusen.

Therefor I can not find Burum anywhere in Germany.
There is a Berum in Ostfriesland.

Greetings,
Heiko
