Hi Robert,
On 26 september 1426 there was a battlefield at Detern between the two
Ostfrisian leaders from those days Focko Ukena und Ocko tom Brock. Focko
Ukena took brutally a lot of power in the area. Ocko tom Brock wanted to
stop that. Focke got some help from the bishop from Münster, Ocko from the
count of Oldenburg. In the battlefield about 100 men lost their lives.
Focko won the battle, although his army was much smaller than his opponents.
But the result was that Focko lost some power, f.e. he had to give up the
Unkenburg in Leer, but managed to put his granddaughter in his place! Both
men lost finaly their power on ostfriesland and the family Cirksena became
the leading family.
Sigrid
