I am back on the list after a two or more year absence.
I am still looking for descendants of Borchert (Bert) Haien Grave who was born in Bedescapel on 6 Jan, 1848. He was in the German Army 1870-1871 and served in the Franco Prussian War. He married Trientje (Christina) Peters Voogd, a Simonswolde girl and moved there where he resided until they came to America in 1880. Their children were
Heye Borcherts (Hiram) Grave b. 1873
Peter Jakobs Grave b. 1875
Bernhard (Barney) b. 1877
Tee Borcherts b. 1880.

After they came to America, Christina died in 1888 in Carrol County, Iowa. Bert remarried to Katherine Brahms in 1889 at Sac City, Iowa. They had three more children
Theodore Hiram Grave)b. 1882, (my grandfather)
Bertha Grave b. 1884
Christine Grave(Tena) b. 1887.

Some of the Children added an "s" to the name and go by the name Graves.
Katherine Brahms died in 1907
Borchert (Bert) Grave died 1927 in Reading Minnesota
