Mittjus ... Wientjes. Looks close to me.
Keep in mind one thing when using the Census. It is a Government
operation.
Remember the lithium hydroxide canisters in Apollo 13? One set
was round and the other square? Government operation.

For those of you who are tracing the Peter Peters Eckhoff family of Illinois
and Iowa..I have made a connection that is not readily apparent to, well,
anyone, including me.
Eda/Ida declared that she had immigrated in 1869 and married in 1871. And,
yet I could not find her in the 1870 census. I figured she actually
immigrated later, just missed the enumeration. I was wrong. Now maybe you
have figured this out and I am sharing information that is obvious to
everyone but me.
I found her living with her sister, Grietje and brother-in-law, Hendrik Bode
and the name was so screwed up I didnt put it together until just recently.
She was enumerated twice (as was the family) in Ridott Township, Stephenson
Co., IL. Notice in entry no. 1 below, Eda Mittjus. I believe this is the
enumerators best guess of the word Wientjes. In Entry #2, just a couple
of pages away, we see Eda Mennega, a modification of the surname Wienenga,
a name they also used. The age is consistent.
Entry #1:
The family was enumerated as:
Bode, Henry, age 26
Thantje, age 21
Annie, age 3/12
Mittjus, Eda, age 18
Shauf, Corneilus, age 11
Bode, George, age 34
George is insane.
Entry #2:
The family was enumerated as:
Bode, Henry, age 25
Grietje, age 20
Ann, 9/12
Shauf, Cornielius, age 11
Mennega, Eda, age 17
I dont know if this will help anyone but thought I would put it out there.
