Here is a stumbling block that someone on the list may be able to help me with. I am looking for information on my Great grandfathers brother ..... Friederich Wilhelm Georg ROSENBERG. He was born in Marienhafe 3-18-1844 ... How his parents got there is a mystery, they seemed to be in a number of Ostfriesian villages ... but that is another stumbling block. This family used the tradition of using their second middle name as their "call" name, thus he went by George ... my GGrandfather went by William although his given name was Hermann Friderich Wilhelm Rosenberg. Well anyway I have his birth record and a marriage record for him and Johanna Diderica Dirksen, born 9-28-1842 in Grimersum. The two were married in Grimersum 3-27-1870. Now here is where the questions come in. I suspect they were living in Grimersum. Are there records in the 1870s for births in Grimersum, or is that too late. I am looking for children of these two. I also think that Johanna may have died !
before
1875 and Georg may have remarried for reasons I will get to. I also suspect that Georg came to America.

Here is my second clue to this guy. I have a passenger list that has a George Rosenberg on it coming to America in 1890. (Thankyou Robert). This George was 45 at the time ... that would seem to concure to a 1844 birth of the other George listed. Also listed on the passenger list are two children ... Friederike, 15 and Johann, 13. My original F W George Rosenbergs mother was named Friederica and Johann was the name of Georges grandfather ... so these children would seem to fit. But the odd thing is that the wifes name doesn't match. Listed as the wife is .... Reinke, 37 (which would put her birth around 1853). So I am thinking that Johanna died somewhere between 1870 and 1875 (birth date of child Friederika), then George married Reinke and had the two above children. Then he came to America ... possibly having more children.

Now .... finally .... Questions. Need records from either Marienhafe, Grimersum or Grietsiel (where passenger list said that George and Reinke came from). Children for George Rosenberg and Johanna Dirksen .... there may be a Heinrich or Hermann. Death record for Johanna Diderica Dirksen. Marriage record for George Rosenberg and Reinke ?. Birth records for Friederike and Johann Rosenberg (probably in 1875 and 1877). And finally .... where did they go in America???

Thanks for any help. Lots of pieces to the puzzle ... need facts!
