Hi Arthur
As far as I'm aware, "Landed Proprietor" means someone who owned huge
tracts of land, deriving his/her income from same. My g.g.grandfather,
Sir Thomas Duffield of Marcham, owned, among other estates, Marcham Park
which held over 2,500 acres. He was described as a "Landed Proprietor".
