The following information is the cemetery data and what genealogy notes I
have on 44 individuals buried in the CARPENTER CEMETERY, located at the
Intersection of Routes 524 and 347 in Scott Township, Lackawanna County,
Pennsylvania.
I also have pictures of many of the headstones and can send them to any
one that would like copies.

In return I would appreciate any information regarding the Carpenter
family that resided in Carpenter Hollow, which is about 2 miles southwest
of Factoryville, Wyoming County (near the intersection of Fulton Rd and
Rt. 2012). My wife's ancestor Benjamen Carpenter ( b. Abt 1775 m.
Freelove Bailey)came to Pennsylvania from Rhode Island in 1801 and helped
settled this area. He is buried in Walls Corners and has family in the
Carpenter Cemetery in Factoryville, but may have buried his father on the
farm. I really need to find out the names of Benjamen's parents.

43yrs. 4mos. 22days and Mother Clara E. his wife Died February 19, 1895

3. On back of stone of 1 above it has Chas E. Carpenter died March 22,
1892 22yrs (Picture 41)

4. On side of stone of 1 above it has Ruth, daughter of William H. and
Clara Carpenter Died March 12, 1878 1yr 12 days. (Picture 40)

5 & 6 Dennis H. Carpenter Died November 18, 1888 88yrs, 10mos. and Lydia
L. his wife. (Picture 1)

7. Stone reads on front, Our Father and Mother, the side reads Joseph
Carpenter Died, August 2, 1884 aged 94yrs 6mos. 16days. (Pictures 2 & 3)

8. The other side of stone 9 reads Rhoda wife of Joseph Carpenter, Died
August 15, 1830 35yrs. (Picture 4)

Joseph CARPENTER was born 17 Jan 1790 of, RI. He died 2 Aug 1884 in PA
and was buried in Cem., Clifford Twp., Lackawanna, PA. He married Rhoda
GRAVES, daughter of Constant GRAVES and Comfort BATES about 1816 in RI.
Rhoda was born about 15 Jul 1795 in NY. She died 15 Aug 1830 in PA.
!Died aged 35 years and 1 month. This works out to be 15 Jul 1795.

Mary S. his wife Born July 3, 1817 Died February 28, 1882. (Picture 5)

Charles M. CARPENTER was born 20 Aug 1817 in NY. He died 27 Jan 1894 in
PA and was buried in Cem., Clifford Twp., Lackawanna, PA. He was
the son of Joseph and Rhoda Carpenter above. He married MARY S. JOHNSTON
Abt. 1838 in Scott Twp., Luzerne, PA, daughter of CHARLES JOHNSTON and
SARAH DICKSON. She was born July 03, 1817, and died February 28, 1882.

11. & 12. The stone had a main stone that said Carpenter with two smaller
stones on front. The names on these small stones were: J.W. Wheaton
1851-1917 on one and Harriet F. 1854-1930 on the other. (Pictures 16, 30
& 31)

James Wheaton CARPENTER was born 31 May 1851 in Luzerne, PA. He died 3
Jun 1917 in Scranton, Lakawanna, PA and was buried in Cem., Clifford
Twp., Lackawanna, PA. He married Harriet Frances HILLS, daughter of
Nathaniel HILLS and Harriet HARRINGTON on 2 Nov 1882 in PA. Harriet was
born 9 Apr 1854 in PA. She died 11 Mar 1930 in Scranton, Lakawanna, PA.
They had the following children:

13. Henry Melvin Carpenter 1893 - 1933

Henry Melvin CARPENTER was born 7 Mar 1893 in PA. He died 28 Jan 1933 in
PA. He was the son of James Wheaton and Harriet Carpenter (above). He
reportedly never married.

14. Vandelia Carpenter Burlingame Dec 16 1838 - Jan 30 1923 (Picture 12)

Vandella Carpenter b. 1839 in Scott Twp. Luzerne County, PA and married
Giles P. Burlingame on July 6, 1859 in Luzerne, PA.

15. Giles P. Burlingame Died May 17, 1879 43 Yrs ___M ___D (Picture 13)

Giles P. Burlingame was born in 1836 in Luzerne County, Pa. He married
Vandelia Carpenter on July 6, 1859 in Luzerne County PA. Giles died in
Scranton, Lakawanna, PA.

16 & 17. Front of the stone said Joseph Carpenter, July 16, 1842- July 5,
1903 and
Lucy F. his wife June 17, 1847 June 2, 1901. ( Picture 36 )

Joseph CARPENTER was born 16 Jul 1842 in Luzerne, PA. He died 5 Jul 1903
in PA. Joseph married Lucy A. FISK on 5 Jan 1868 in Luzerne, PA. Lucy
was born 7 Jun 1847. She died Jun 1901 in PA.
They had the following children:

18. Back of stone in 16 above had Earl C. Aug. 27 1873- September 27 1903

Earl C. Carpenter was the son of Joseph and Lucy Carpenter

19. Back of stone in 16 above had Edith Amy Kilpatrick, March 16 1871
May 30 1971. (Pictures 22 and 22A)

Edith Amy Carpenter was the daughter of Juseph and Lucy Carpenter and
married (unknown) Kilpatrick.

20 & 21. George C. Carpenter 1844-1923 and Sarah E. White, his wife
1848-1914. (Picture 42)

George Charles CARPENTER was born 1844 in Luzerne, PA. He died 4 Sep 1923
in PA.George married (1) Sarah Emma WHITE-54665 on 4 Jul 1872. Sarah was
born Sep 1848/1849 in PA. She died 1914 in Scott Twp., Lackawanna,PA.

Barney.

here 1811, died April 27, 1848 22yrs. 1mo. 10days. (Picture 20)

It is assumed that the husband settled there in 1811 and the wife died at
22 Years.
