Subject: [PA-CEM] Old Cemetery in Malverne-Great Valley area.
Date: Mon, 26 May 2003 20:37:18 EDT
Hello!
I don't have any family from Chester County (at least as far as I
know...), but when I was visiting my brother this past week in Pennsylvania, I
checked out some old cemeteries. My brother took me to one close to his work
in the Malvern/Great Valley area, in Chester Co., Pa. The cemetery is old &
unkempt. Most of the stones are broken & illegible (to me anyway, but I'm not
very good at deciphering these things), but I did find a few that I could
read. It is on Flat Road off of Morehall Rd (highway 29), east of Wilburdale Rd.
I can give you directions if you're interested.
In this cemetery I found the following people (that I could read):
Abraham Lapp, died Feb. 2, 1860(?), 75th or 78th year.
There is a smaller stone to the left of him that I couldn't read
except for some reference to Abraham Lapp.
Christian Lapp, looks as if it says he died in 1861.
Morris, son of Mary Zook, who departed this life August 25, 1821,
aged 9 mos & 18 days.
Ann M. Zook, died July(?) 1841, aged 13(?)years, 4 mos, 13 days.
William(?) Zook died in 1821
Jacob Ruth, born 1817(?), died 1865.
Anne Ruth died Dec !7(?), 1835, 70th year.
Sarah Davis, wife of Edward Davis, departed this life Dec (?) 1824,
aged 25 years, 8 months, 11 days.
Mary, daughter of Edward & Sarah Davis, Jan or June 29, 1822, 8 mos,
8 days.
John Career, died Nov. 14, 1813, aged 47 years, 3(?)mos, 27 days.
In sacred memory of Eliza A., Isaac Z. Coffman MD, and second
daughter of James and Sarah Whitaker, born 17 Sept. 1811, died 20 Mar 1840.
Eliza, daughter of Eliza & I.Z. Coffman MD, died Feb. ????
Joseph Coffman, died April ? 1815 in his 30th (or 36th) year,
can't read any more except where it says "affectionate husband, (some kind of)
parent, sincere friend & pious Christian."
Phebe Hall, born Jan. 20, 1786, rest is underground.
Adam Rickabac (maybe Pickabac), I believe this is in German & it
was homemade (scratched in stone) IMAHR(?) 1805 or 1905, alt 79 IOH.
Elizabeth Shank, died June 24th, 1823 in the 66th year of her age.
Christian Zug, born Apr. 10, 1752, died Oct 8, 1876, aged 74 yrs.,
5 mos., & 18 days
Magdalene Zug, born 1751, died Aug. 14, 1833.
Both Christian & Magdalene had stones in German as well as
English.
Ann Mecon(key or kly), daughter of John & Elizabeth Mecon(key or
kly), died 1833.
Frederic Vanoever (or Vandever), son of WV & MH Husted, b. Feb ??,
1875, died Aug. ??, 1877
That's it. Hope it helps someone.
Roxanne
