Subject: [PA-CEM] IL-URLs that are useful for tracking PA wanderers
Date: Sat, 28 Feb 2004 13:21:11 -0500
Dear Listers,
After answering Mac's request, it occurred to me, many of our PA ancestors
did move onto
other states and lived and died there. Some of these URLs are in IL and
very useful, but some
such as the Michigan University one and the AncestryPlus for city
directories are good for many states.
Hope they may of help to you. They were passed on to me also.

Hi Mac,
It is the Historic Chicago Times - approx. 150 years. There is a
fantastical over two-lines long URL, but last weekend a lady emailed on one
of my lists that this works and it does.
http://tinyurl.com/3y8aa
Just need to be flexible with how the search engine works. Still haven't
located my Frank or his son James Ralston, but they could have died
somewhere else.
You might also like the UMICH MOA Project for digitized books and documents
at
http://www.hti.umich.edu/m/moagrp
This seems to be books and documents from all over the USA and etc.
And then someone wrote in and gave the City Directory source for
AncestryPlus
www.gale.ancestry.com
I am pretty sure that this is for several states. I think it depends if the
different cities have put their information online.
Cook County List is very active and very good, but there is no Prepend or
Title on the emails, so it can be a bit of a pain to go through hundreds of
emails on my many lists daily, trying to locate an email that you want to
recheck. They also have recommendations for 3 ladies that will go and get
vital records for you in Chicago and Springfield, if you can give them the
details, or a near date. Evidently they are very reasonable and prompt and
reliable.
To get Vital Info before and after 1916, use
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/GenealogyMWeb/IDPHDeathSearchSerlet
or go to google.com and type in
http://www.sos.state.il.us.GenealogyMWeb/MarriageSearchServlet
and possibly as above for births, inserting Birth where Marriage is
I'll send this to the list as well. Thanks for writing.
If you every run across anything of James P. Carter (1822-1874) Indiana and
Allegheny counties, also Armstrong, please let me know.
