here is a Penn State digital book on Warren county

Not a lot of references to Russell, but it seems to indicate Russell was
more a Forestry area than Oil and that Keel Boats were constructed there.
Used to transport goods on the river to Pittsburgh

Thank you to everyone that looked for my g-grandparents in the censuses. You
have all been very helpful! Does anyone have information about an oil
company or coal mine that may have been in the Russell, PA area to attract
people to that area? There must have been reasons besides the beauty of the
hills and valleys.
