Hello List,

It has been quite a while since I have posted here. Previously I helped a
good number of list members find information about their ancestors and it
was a pleasure to help. However, I have never referred to Union soldiers
as "Yankees" and it bothers me when list members mention Confederate
soldiers as "Rebels." I was under the belief this War was over and the
name calling ended, but I see it hasn't. All of these men, Union and
Confederate fought for the causes they beleived in, and I feel all of these
men should be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. It's
organizations like the Sons of Union Veterans and the Sons of Confederate
Veterans who work so hard to keep the memory, honor, and good name of these
men alive. Please note that I am not trying to start any discussion,
debate, or any such thing on this list. It would just be nice to see the
stereotyping namecalling put to an end.

Best regards,

Edward Harding
