55. CATHERINE FAHNESTOCK (Samuel [No. 13], Peter, Johann Diedrich), b. East
Berlin, Adams Co., Pa., 11I Dec. 1792; d. Quincy, Franklin Co., Pa., 15 Feb.
1868; m. George Resser, b. near York Springs, Adams Co., Pa.,'23 Feb. 1793;
d. Quincy, Pa., 6 April 1865, son of Jacob Resser (d. Nov. 1838) and his
wife Elizabeth Group.
George Resser was a tinsmith at East Berlin, a business still being carried
on there by his grandson, William W. Resser, son of Jacob. In a letter to
her son Jacob, dated April 6, 1839, addressed to him in Pittsburgh, in care
of his uncle, Dr. Peter Fahnestock, Catherine Resser chides him for leaving
his master in Chambersburg and tells of the death of his grandfather Jacob
Resser, in the woods where he was cutting a tree which fell onhim.
Both George Resser and his widow Catherine (Fahnestock) Resser, b. East
Berlin, Adams Co., Pa., were:
I.Jacob, b. 10 Sept. 1820; d. East Berlin, 12 May 1905; m. 1859, Lydia
Ann Wolf, b. E. Berlin, 30 Aug. 1832; d. E. Berlin, 23 Jan. 1920, dau. of
William and Elizabeth Wolf. In 1850 he traveled in a covered wagon to
Oregon, Washington and California, but later returned east.
II.Samuel, b. 8 Nov. 1822; d. E. Berlin, unm., 8 April 1847. A wire
weaver.
III.Rebecca Fahnestock, b. 24 Feb. 1824; d. E. Berlin, 11 Aug. 1846; m.
George Washington Baugher, b. 1 Nov. 1816, d. E. Berlin, 25 March 1892.
IV.Andrew Fahnestock, b. 28 Nov. 1827, d. 18 Aug. 1879, m.
