(1) In 1824-31, if a child at 14 was given an adult family member or family friend as their "guardian", could this mean that they were Indentured to that friend or family member, to learn a trade?
(2) I am confused by the many changes in state, county, and township lines. Is there a source where I can locate maps that show "Luzerne" County's changing boundaries?
For example, when Luzerne County was established, how many townships were within that county? Were these early townships later divided?
Yes, I have seen that the King of Englad gave permission to name all lands west of "Connecticut" to the "Pacific Ocean" for that state, so were the areas included in "Connecticut" prior to 1787, given the same township names that they hold today, which were later transferred to lower New York and eastern Pennsylvania?
As it appears that some of my ancestors may have lived in two different states prior to 1788, but actually never moved. Is that possible?
