Robert ‘Bob’ Curtis Morrison
MORRISON, Robert “Bob” Curtis — Went home to be with the Lord on April 7,
2006, truly the day Bob became eternally, “Better than the day he was worse”.
Bob was born to Basil and Hannah Morrison on September 1, 1917, in Transfer,
Pennsylvania, on property still farmed by his family. Although he resided in
Milwaukie, Oregon, for the last six months, he had lived in Roseburg,
Oregon, since his retirement in 1985. During WWII, he was an Electrician at
Westinghouse in Sharon, Pennsylvania. After the war, Bob and his wife, Ida “Blondie”
dedicated the rest of their careers to Christian service focused on
children. They were the first employees of Camp Judson on Lake Erie in Pennsylvania;
followed by the American Baptist Assembly Grounds in Green Lake, Wisconsin;
the Children’s Baptist Home in Los Angeles, California; Camp Harlow in
Eugene, Oregon; and Camp Tadmor near Lebanon, Oregon. Bob was married to Ida
Roberts who preceded him to Heaven in 1994 after 54 years of marriage. He is
survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Janet and Ralph Fray and Peggy
and Paul Osborn; four grandchildren, Scott Fray and his wife, Johanna; Debbie
Fray Parrett and her husband, Derek; Susan Osborn Carlson and her husband,
Nathan; Karen Osborn; and six great-grandchildren. Bob was the oldest of nine
children of whom three have preceded him to Heaven, Thomas, Cynthia Deevers and
Lester. He is survived by his brothers, Norman and James; and sisters, Janet
Espey, Verlene Barr and LaWanda Johnston. Bob will always be remembered for
his great sense of humor and always having a ready joke and loving smile. Bob’
s body has been donated to Oregon Health and Sciences University for the
advancement of medical science and the benefit of humanity. A celebration of Bob’
s life will be held on May 21, 2006, at 3:30 p.m. at the First Conservative
Baptist Church in Roseburg. Arrangements were entrusted to Lincoln Memorial
Home in Portland, Oregon
