Subject: Re: William PURDY (PURDEY or PARDOE) County Antrim, Ireland ==> Chester County
Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2000 08:54:28 -0400
from THE MIGRATION OF THE IRISH QUAKERS TO PA, by Myers
William Purdy, unmarried, from Ballynacree Meeting, County Antrim, 2 MO
23,1737, received 4 Mo 15, 1738.
In 1671 in county Tyrone, one Wm Purdy, for tithes had taken 14 loads of
turf, some "hey", and barley, valued at 2 she 6 pence.
In 1674 William Purdy, of county Tyrone, had taken for "Clerks Wates" a
Pick-ax valued at 2 she 6 pence.
One Thomas Purdy and Ann Coots, "Als Ridge" were married at the meeting
at Grange, near charlemont, 2 Mo 16, 1701.....(this from the minutes of the
Ulster Province Meeting.)
There is also quite a bit about William Pim, who settled in PA and was
Justice of the Bradford...he died in 1751, and mentions his sister, Susanna
Purdy, in his will. This looks to be your family....if you concur, let me
know and I'll send the rest; won't bother typing it all in, if you don't
think they're yours.
Below are the wills of Chester, mentioning your names.
