I need to email you this information as it is a basis to what I am
trying to accomplish.
In the book Snow Hill Remembered by Richard Stevens which shows the
lineage of
a Charles Harris from Maryland thru Kentucky and Ohio of which I am
related -
I find a reference to Jesse Hughes.
Jesse Hughes in 1790 married Elizabeth Drake (daughter of Jemima Rose
and Jesse Drake)
in Bullitt Co.,KY. Jesse Hughes was born in 1767 in Berkeley Co., WV. At
an early age
he went with his parents back to Chester co.,PA to stay with relatives.
At the age of 17
in 1784, he went with his uncle (some say Morgan) to Jefferson Co.,KY to
Fort Hughes.
In 1790 I find Morgan,Benjamin,Jesse,Abner Hughes. In 1800 Morgan is
gone. By 1840
Abner is gone. Jesse left in 1805 to Ohio where the Hughes and Harris
line met.
I looked up Berkeley Co.,WV. In 1772 there is Benjamin,Morgan and Isaac.
Isaac dies
in 1776 and there is widow Hughes. Benjamin in 1776 is a soldier in
Abraham Shepherd's
group and held pristioner for a number of months -like 2 years.
Leah Hughes,Morgan Hughes, and Benjamin Hughes are executors of Isaac's
inventory.
In the Hopewell Quaker minutes Isaac and children Abner,Anne,Edward are
listed in 1771
as a transfer from Gwynedd Quakers.
In Familyhistory.com I find someone asking about the descendants of
Isaac Hughes in
Berkeley Co.,WV as they are living in his house. Their website is
www.geocities.com/yellowyarrow and are Dave and Wendy Benton.
I have sent them info on what I had found at that time. They posted it
on their website. They
assume Isaac Hughes is the nephew of Morgan Hughes died 1727. I don't
know if this is
"their" Isaac Hughes. I find another reference later (see part 2).
So this is all so exciting!
