Here are a few tidbits you didn't mention.
Oliver purchased land from Wm. Penn by deed of Sept 8, 1681, and is
supposed to have arrived in Pa early in 1683, as he obtained a warrant for
the survey of land in that year.....his home was on Naaman's Creek, below
the circular line of new Castle County.
Son John bought 200 acres in Bradford in 1712 and built a log house
there, in which his children were born. He was married 2 times, but the
name of his first wife is not known. His Second wife, Charity Evans, as a
widow of John Evans. After charities death he married a 3rd time, to
Elizabeth, widow of Thomas Fisher 12-23-1748...he was 82 years old when he
died in 1773....he left 8 children; Hannah, Samuel, Mary, John, Nathan,
Caleb, Joshua, Joseph...there must have been a Cope gene for longevity, for
most of these children also lived to be over 80 y o a.
John and all his children wrote their name Coope, but the original
spelling was resumed by all branches early in the 1800s.
