Hi,
Just checked some info I found a William Shaffer in Chester in 1857 and in
the 1850 US Census from the same area. I accidentally came across another
William Shaffer living with a Naylor family in 1850 age 13 both are in
Tredyffrin. Hester Shaffer, also age 13 is living with the McClure family.
I checked out the 1840 census and there is a William B. Shaffer with a son
under 5 ( but this does leave Hester out as a sister) and a few other
children. I really can't base any factual information on this as their is
323 Shaffer's in PA and none in that time frame in Chester. I hope this
helps.
