Diana,

Have you expanded your search to the neighboring counties? There were Landis
families in neighboring counties in the late 18th century and younger
generations did move between counties - check out

for a George W. Landis whose father was contemporaneous to your Daniel (7
months younger) and moved from Berks county to Chester in the 1850's.
