I wondered the same thing and looked for Chester Fultons, finding the
following,
James Jr, born in East Fallowfield, 4th mo 8, 1813, so of James and Ann
Fulton, of Sadsbury and Kennet respectively) first to live in what became
the village of Ercildoun. James Jr was a firey fellow, speaking out against
intoxicants and tobacco....later he took up the cause of the abolition of
slavery, to which he dedicate much of his life.
John Fulton - emigrated from the north of Ireland 1750 - of Scottish
descent - settled near Oxford. Capt on patriot army during An Rev. HIs
son, james, father of James J Fulton who married nancy a Ramsey...4 sons Wm
T, Joseph M, James and Hurg R (latter an attorney in Lancaster)...2
daughters died in infancy.
Wm T Fulton b West Nottingham 2-27-1835..farmer, learned the blacksmithing
trade and later taught school. read law and admitted to the bar 1861.
settled in Osvord. 1861 recruited Co E, Purnell LEgion, Md Inf (made up of
bordermen of Pa and Md)capt till Aug 1862 when promoted to Maj...disc.
phys. disability. 1863 again volunteered. m 1865 Hannah A dau of Joseph
Kirk of W Nottingham, and in 1876 to Annie E Neeper of Oxford. children (by
1st wife) Kirk and Annie E (2nd wife) Jennie.
Dr James Fulton, bro of Wm T. bg 11-1863. physican who began practicint at
Jennerville after 1859. after 2 yrs went into the army 143rte Regt Pa
Volunteers as assist surgeon...resigned April 1864. captured at battle of
Gettysburg. m 1861 Anna M Johnson - children Rebecca, James, Mary, Carrie,
Wm and GErturde.
