Subject: Look-ups on the 1860 Census - Foster
Date: Thu, 19 Aug 2004 13:16:00 EDT
Looking for help on look-ups from the 1860 Federal Census.
The following are on the 1860 census index:
Benjamin Foster, Chester Co, West Chester
James Foster, Chester Co. West Chester
John Foster, Chester Co, West Caln
John Foster, Chester Co, also West Caln
My great grandfather was John Elwood Foster who resided in Chester Co. after
the Civil War. He is my "brick wall". In 1860, he was most likely about 18
years old and I am hoping he may have lived in Chester Co. before the war. He
may have been living with parents or with others, I don't know. I don't even
know his parents names.
He may have had brothers and sisters. He subsequently married in 1870 and
his two sons were Benjamin and James. So possibly John's father or brother
could have been a Benjamin or James. His daughters were Wilhelmina, Mary, Annie
and Josephine.
Thanks for reading and possibly helping me.
Jim Foster
