I wanted to share something incredibly funny (and stupid), that I ran across a good while ago, but was called to mind when I read the following, in the Speakman info shared by our new listmember....
"William married
Elizabeth UNK before 1674 in Berkshire, England.
It seems that Unk is actually one of the most commonly used surname....people believe that Unk is a name, and then pass it along the internet as the surname of a long lost greatgrandmother.....can you believe it? I wrote someone about it once, but they were offended, believing that the info given them by someone else was correct , and the name WAS UNK (of course there was no documentation to go along with the 'amazing' name, Unk)... Geez - I wonder if they'd be interested in buying a nice bridge I have to sell!
S.
So, I never use the UNK, for the above reason....heaven forbid that someone would see my info and think that I'm related to the Unks.....
