Phipps is a very common name in the Chester Co area, but they
arrived very early on, and left many descendants....these folks were, for
the large part,
Quakers .....so, there may well not be any relationship between your
family and the Phipps you will find in Chester. Thus, when researching in
the area, be sure to keep that in mind...
Have you checked various 1850 census, looking for Thomas, or do you
know that he dead by then? How soon after their arrival did the family
move to Towson MD ? I'd think there was some sort of tie to that area for
them to move there...have you explored that possibility?
If you feel he would have landed in Philadelphia and perhaps lived
there, you would do better to address your questions to the Philadelphia
list, where there would be people better able to answer your questions.
