page 43--Thomas Mercer of Andover, County Wilts, England arrived in
1682/83 and died 1694. His daughter, Ann Mercer (married William
Browne) came with her father and received testimony for Truth after her
arrival, buried in 1696.

Extract of the will of Thomas Mercer of Thornbury, Chester Co., PA
Provides for wife Mary. To eldest son, Thomas, after wife's decease
or marriage, the new dwelling plantation containing by estimate 238
acres. To son, Thomas' son, Daniel, one half of 500 acres of land in
Marlborough, which lieth next to Nath'l Newlin's land. To son, Joseph,
the other half of the said 500 acres, whereon son Thomas now lives. To
three daughters, viz; Mary, Elizabeth and Ann, 20 pounds each. To
sons-in-law, William Pennell, Joseph Woodword and Joshua Peirce, one
pistole each. Remainder of moveables to wife and son, Thomas.
Executor: wife, Mary, witnesses: Francis Pullen, Thomas Pierson and
Rose Pierson

Newark Monthly Meeting Records, Newcastle Co., DE

6 4mo (June) 1719--Joseph Mercer and Ann Wickersham having laid their
intention of marriage before this meeting, it being the second time.
The meeting gives them liberty to accomplish their said marriage,
ordering Joel Baily and Gayen Miller to se that it is orderly
accomplished and make report to the next meeting.

27 4mo (June) 1719--It being reported to this meeting that the marriage
of Joseph Mercer and Ann Wickersham was accomplished according to good
order.

At Orphan's Court, held at the house of Richard Clayton in Kennett
[Chester Co., PA], 11 February 1733--John Wickersham and Thomas Mercer,
petition the court on the account of Joseph Mercer, dec'd, that such of
his children, who were of age to choose their guardian and those under
age, to have the court appoint a guardian. Court appoints Thomas Mercer
and Joshua Pierce to be guardian to Mary Mercer, Ann Mercer, Richard
Mercer, Hannah Mercer, Rachel Mercer and Joseph Mercer, minors.

Thornbury Twp., Chester Co., PA; died 1758 in Westtown, Thornbury Twp.,
Chester Co., PA. He married Hannah
Taylor 26 December 1711 in Springfield Friends Mtg., Chester (now
Delaware) Co., PA.

12 iii. Daniel Mercer, Yeoman. He married Rebecca
Townsend 20 November 1735 in Birmington Meeting, Thornbury Twp., Chester
Co., PA.

13 iv. Mary Mercer, born Abt. 1692. She married (1)
William Pennell 26 October 1710. She married (2) William Vestal
1716.

14 v. Elizabeth Mercer. She married Joseph Woodward 1712.

15 vi. Ann Mercer. She married Joshua Pierce 28 October
1713.

I have not been able to find proof, to date, that the Thomas Mercer, who
married Mary Greenaway, was the son of the Thomas Mercer, immigrant from
Wiltshire, England. Quaker minute records state that Thomas was from
Anyo, Northamptonshire, England. I can't comfortably say that they are
father and son because of the two areas of England they migrated from.
