The Methodist, as well as other churches, had circuit ministers, who
traveled from place to place, on a specific circuit, performing the word of
a local minister.....speaking, marrying, baptizing, etc....this would mean
that you'd find records of them in several different places, perhaps in the
same timeframe. I believe, if memory serves, one was called the Chester
Circuit. There was also a Pottstown Circuit, and (from Futhey and Cope) in
1846, a John W. Arthur was a pastor with this Pottstown Circuit. I
imagine J. W. Arthur is your John W. Arthur, don't you? Perhaps you could
go online and see what else you can find about the Pottstown Circuit.

some of the names will give someone a clue. Did they have traveling
Reverends back then that married people? Any hints would be greatly
appreciated.
