Subject: [PaOldC] Horekill, Swans Valley settlement 1663

Dear Sandra and List: I am wondering if anyone has heard of the settlement on the Delaware at Horekill (now the New Castle area of Delaware) of Dutch Settlers. Also known as Swan Valley. Evidently they came over in 1663, a party of about 40 or so. A Dutch man, Peter Cornelius Plockhoy, (possibly a Mennonite) organized the families that came over. In about 1664 the British supposedly destroyed the whole settlement and there were very few survivors. I would appreciate any info or links concerning this settlement and any other surnames, that might have been there.
Thank You, Peg
