Judy and all,
I am looking to find a connection to the John Wallace Family that was on the
Census of 1790. It appers that there may have been a John, Jr and a Charles
Wallace in that family because in the 1800 census of West Fallowfield they
are almost next to each other. My main interest is in proving or disproving
that this Charles Wallace belongs to me.
I have a Charles Davis Wallace over in Lower Smithfield, Wayne County in
1810 and trying to find out where he came from. My Charles Davis was to
have come from Edinburgh, Scotland with 2 brothers, John and William (so the
story was told) They were in the wool manufacturing business, so that could
have included raising the sheep for the wool. That would explain the farm.
Charles is killed in the 27 May 1813 battle at Ft. Geroge and it so happens
that this John Jr is in 1814 living on Charles's previously owned 187 acres
with no sales or deed being registered. He also pays the taxes that year.
Hmmmmm. This is what makes me think there is a possibality of a
connection. Hoping to find a church record somewhere. The family ended up
2 generations later in the Reformed church, but I have no idea what religion
they may have been in this generation.
Thank you all for your interest and answers. Also for any advice.
Ann
