I thought this comment on the first will interesting....another potential
spelling to watch for..Common! Other spellings I found in Futhey and Cope
are Cumens, Cumins, Cummens, Cumming, Cummins and Cummings.

S. CUMMIN,
WILLIAM. Londonderry. Yeoman.January 28, 1748/9. February 2, 1748/9. C.
106.To friend Matthew Porter the tract of land now in my possession and all
other estate, also executor. Name is spelled Common in inventory.Wit:
William Porter, Henry Russell.

CUMMINS, WILLIAM.August 25, 1762. W. Fallowfield. Adm. to Mary Cummins.
(this indicates that while there was no will, Wm left sufficient possessions
to make necessary a disposition by the courts, and these adm. papers are on
file. Sometimes they have valuable info, sometimes not.....the 'luck of the
draw' as to what you find!

(I looked in the Lanc. wills, too, as Lanc. was once part of Chester, and
found this, papers for a Mary Cummins....I included it, in case it might
'fit' later.)
