Subject: [PaOldC] Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery transcriptions - JORDAN& KEEPER(S)

Greetings all ~

I have a brick wall that I am trying to batter down. I've been searching the internet for some time now trying to find a comprehensive transcription of burials at the Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery. I started with trying to contact the church directly. It doesn't seem to have ever arrived as they never replied to me. I just called the office there. A very nice lady is reviewed their computer database, but says that there is very little information on the older section of the cemetery contained in it. She mentioned that there was a fire at the church in the early 1900s and a lot of records were lost. And that they have created a database from what information they do have. However, I got the impression that they have never done a full reading of the stones. At least they don't seem to have a record of one. I would guess they don't have the manpower or time to undertake a complete reading of the cemetery.

I've sent an e-mail to the library at the Chester County Historical Society, but apparently it got lost as well as I haven't heard from them either.

I found two partial lists online, but neither of them give me the names I'm looking for. Nor can I find a research contact for that particular cemetery anywhere. Interment.net has no listings for Hep(h)zibah Baptist. Find-a-Grave has 71 listings at Hepzibah Baptist, but none of them are Jordans or Keepers. Chester County Genealogy has 135 listings some of which are Jordans, but not the names I'm looking for at this time. However, the cemetery is much larger than this.

I am trying to locate the burial place of William and Ann [Hayes] Keepers and Israel Jordan. I'm also trying to locate the parents of Israel Jordan. I have reason to believe that Israel Jordan is the brother of Hannah Jordan who married Joseph Hayes Keepers, son of William and Ann [Hayes] Keepers in or about 1820, moved first to Beaver County, PA, and then to Guernsey County, OH. Joseph H. and Hannah [Jordan] Keepers named their second son Israel Jordan Keepers. I'm interested in any Keepers or Jordan buried between 1700 and 1850 in the Chester County area and at Hepzibah in particular.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
