Richard Witten, John Jones, Thomas James aged 16 were added to Welsh tract congregation by baptism. Many people of that time were from Wales but not all; for instance, Catherine Hollinsworth and Cornelius Vansant (both by letter from other places).

Richard Whittin signed some covenant in 1716.

As a ruling elder, he died in January 1742.

So Richard Whitten was not necessarily a new immigrant and probably was not from Wales. People who were from Wales actually most often bore last names that were first names, and often had distinctively Welsh names as well. Richard could have belonged to a family that was there at the time. There was a Quaker Whitten/ Whitting family in the area, and it contained atleast one Richard. The Welsh Tract Baptist church attracted a certain number of members of well known Quaker families in the area, such as Catherine Hollinsworth.
