I called MM in 1991 and asked about my g-g & g-grandparents buried there,
they tried to give me a run around about it. I said WRONG!!!!. We paid for
their plots, and PC and I want the info. Within the week I had a copy of
their original deed, and a hand written note with the burial plots info, who
was where. It cost me NOTHING!!!!
The following week I drove down from "up-state" PA, went to the office they
gave me a cemetery map and told me to be careful in the cemetery. I also
made comments about the condition of the cemetery, that it was a DISGRACE
and a DISHONOR to everyone's loved ones who are buried there. Their comment
back to me, was that if I was interested in paying (updating a "new" YEARLY
fee for PC) @ $100.00 per person, per plot, since our last burial there
1979, my great grandmothers ashes, that they would be more then happy to
send a caretaker over to our plots, two different sections of the cemetery
to clean up and mow their area. I said what are you NUTS???? your deed that
you sent me and the other info states " PC care for life" you aint getting a
penny out of me, and my lawyer will be in contact with you. she changed her
tone and said that the cemetery was broke, the money had been mishandle
years ago, and unless a group or groups got together, or Boy Scouts doing
their Eagle project, or criminals doing community service (which I think is
a GREAT idea) the cememetery would get worse each year until nothing was
left of it. I never did find the graves of my g-g- grandparents and three
of their boys who died in the flue epidemic, nor their daughter who died
young, married and left a son under the age of one.
At present I only live about 15 miles if that, from MM, now that my hubby
has a permit to carry and on one of his days off we will take a drive up
and see if I can find them this time. He is a big man 6'6" and 320 lbs also
a CO at the county prison, so I will real much safer up there, then when my
mom and I went in 1990.
