Dorothy,
I think you and I may be related! Is Abel Morgan a relative of
yours? And what Hendrix are you from? I don't know all the
genealogical ins and outs, but Abel Morgan is about my 7th great
grandfather, and Hendrix is part of our background...I will have to
ask my mother for the exact relationship. Abel Morgan is also
responsible for the school that Brown University originated from
eventually, plus quite a few published debates and sermons. Did you
find anything at the historical society? I was in communication with
a woman professor in Wales some time back who sent me a copy of the
first page of the concordance, which they have in their rare books library.
ANYWAY, the reason I joined the Mt. Moriah group is because I'm
looking for Abel Morgan's grave. He was originally buried in the
churchyard at the Welsh Tract Baptist Church in Welsh Tract,
Delaware, and then later moved to Mt. Moriah. That's all the
information I'v found, and I have never found anything that says WHEN
he was moved. Have you heard this?
I have mentioned this to this group from time to time, but nobody
seems to have heard of him before...I REALLY hope we can find out
something. We stopped at the cemetery 12+ years ago when we were out
there (we live in Oregon) but the gate was locked. The person I
talked to on the phone the day before said all we could do is come
over and look around (!!) I find it hard to believe that someone of
such historical significance could be buried there with no
information whatsoever. It must be someplace.
