According to the Historic Pittsburgh site - - the City Council selected the
Leech Farm site (East End section of Pittsburgh) in 1913 for the site of the
new City Tuberculosis Sanatorium. I don't know when it stopped being a TB
Sanatorium but I would guess that it was when antibiotics were invented. I
know that the VA had a psychiatric hospital up at Leech Farm in the 1960's
and 70's.

You can also check the Historic Pittsburgh site for old maps.

Hope this helps.
