Query about cemeteries in WESTMORELAND COUNTY (PA):
The Long Run Church (it's no longer called that) is the oldest church in
North Huntingdon Twp., pre-dating the Revolutionary War. It has changed
denominations, and I don't know the name of the current title, but it WAS
the Long Run United Presbyterian Church.
One of the URL's for its cemetery is:
http://www.pa-roots.com/~westmoreland/townships/northhuntingdon/longrun1.html
The church is best approached from Pittsburgh by going East on Rt. 30.
Pass the Norwin Towne center (church is visible ahead, and to the right).
There are two right turns there: a 90 degree and a 45 degree. Take the
45 degree turn, go to the top of the hill, then make a 90 degree right.
The church is on your right, about 200 yards down the road.
Other cemeteries in your query:
(1) SHAFTON is right on Brush Creek, at the bottom of the slope. Rising
above it, all the way to the crest, is Irwin's UNION CEMETERY, founded
shortly after the Civil War, and still in operation. Many ANDERSON's there.
(2) MARS HILL BAPTIST CHURCH lies near Rillton, approx. 5 miles S. of Circleville.
