HOLLAND, COOK, MCGUIER
Mrs. Fannie HOLLAND, 86, of Prospect street, Midway, died at 6:45 a.m.
Monday, March 20, 1961, following a long illness.
A daughter of Henry and Eliza JONES FELTON, she was born October 24, 1874,
in Strafford, England. She came to the United States I 1887 and resided in
Monongahela, where she married Bendy HOLLAND March 1, 1895. They moved to
Midway in 1900 and have resided there since. Mr. HOLLAND died in November,
1944.
Mrs. HOLLAND was a member of the Methodist Church in Midway, a former
member of the W.S.C.S. and an honorary member of the Good Neighbor Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy, at home; four sons, Henry HOLLAND
of Midway, George HOLLAND of Oakdale, Robert HOLLAND of R. D. 1, Bulger, and
Arthur HOLLAND of Midway; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie PARSON of Long Island, N.
Y., and Mrs. Esther BELL of R. D. 1, Charleroi; and a brother, David FELTON
of R. D. 1, Charleroi. There are 14 grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Wilson funeral
home, Midway, in charge of the Rev. Robert P.VEYDT, pastor of the Midway
Methodist Church. Burial will be in Center cemetery, Midway.
Ivan Rowland COOK, 59, husband of the former Marie SAIX of McDonald, died
Thursday, March 16, 1961, in his home in La Sierra, Calif.
A native of Findlay, Ohio, Mr. COOK was a retired realtor. He and Mrs.
COOK had resided in California for the past 16 years. A former resident of
Toronto, Ohio, where he worked for Weirton Steel as a trainman for 17 years,
he went to the Los Angeles area, where he in engaged in the produce business
for three years. He then became a realtor and was forced to retire due to
ill health.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, the Inglewood,
Calif., Lodge of Elks, and the Southwest and Los Angeles Realty Boards.
Besides his wife, Marie SAIX COOK, he leaves a son, Ivan Raymond COOK of
Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister Mrs. Elizabeth CRAMER of Burgettstown; and
four brothers, Clair C. COOK, of Florence, Dwight H. COOK of Riverside,
Calif., Arthur J. COOK of Pittsburgh, and Joseph G. COOK of Pt. Pleasant, W.
Va.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, Los
Angeles, in charge of the Rev. L. G. WINFREY, and the Rev. Walter LEPP.
Burial was in Inglewood Park cemetery.
Russell A. (Pie) MCGUIER, 45, of Washington, husband of the former Virginia
CARROLL of McDonald, died at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 1961, in the
Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
He was born April 15, 1915, in Lordstown, Ohio, a son of the late Roy S.
and Dessie SPROWL MCGUIER. He was employed as a checker at the Hazel Atlas
No. 2 Plant for 27 years.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Donald Lee and James Paul, both at
home; and three sisters, Mrs. Constance KEELING, Mrs. Mildred JONES, and
Mrs. Loretta KUZY, all of Washington.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Washington in charge of the
Rev. A. C. YOUNG, pastor of the Second Christian Church, Washington. Burial
was in the Washington Cemetery.
