FOURTH VIOLENT DEATH IN FAMILY

Benjamin G. Ankney, 47 years old, one of the two men who were crushed to death in a fall of rock at the mine of the Ridge Coal Company, near West Derry, Wednesday morning, March 2, was the fourth member of the family of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Ankney of Latrobe, to meet a violent death. Two brothers and a brother-in-law also died through accidents.

Some years ago, Wertner Ankney, seven years old, a son, ran a stick into his eye while on his way to school, which caused his death a short time later.

John Ankney, another son, who was a railroad fireman, was killed in the disastrous Ligonier Valley train wreck on the Wilpen branch July 5, 1912.

Lawrence Riddell, the husband of a daughter, died as the result of an accident in the plant of the Railway Steel Spring Company, nine years ago.

Funeral services for Benjamin Ankney, the third son to die in an accident, were held at 2 o'clock, Friday afternoon, from the home of his parents, with the Rev. W.A. Sites in charge. Interment at Coles cemetery.
