Steubenville.
Dr. ORWIG received word yesterday telling him of the death of his brother
Dr. J. B. ORWIG, of Toledo, Ohio. Mr. ORWIG died very suddenly. Dr. ORWIG
expects to leave today to attend the funeral of his brother.
While trying to board a moving eastbound train at the city depot Friday
night, Edward L. KELLEY, aged 30 years, well-known oil driller and son of M.
C. KELLEY of Washington, Pa., was thrown under the wheels and so badly
injured that his death occurred within a few minutes. His right arm and leg
were severed from his body. Several persons witnessed the accident and he
was immediately picked up and taken into the depot, but life was extinct
before the doctors arrived.
For nine years Mr. KELLEY was employed in the oil fields in the vicinity of
Bakersfield, California. He returned to Washington last November following
the death of his wife, which occurred last spring. For several weeks he had
been employed drilling at Dennison, Ohio, and was en route to his home in
Washington when the accident occurred.
His mother, Mrs. M. C. KELLEY, died suddenly of heart failure on March 16
at Elizabeth while visiting her husband who was employed at that place at
the time.
Mr. KELLEY leaves a son, Edward L. KELLEY, Jr., aged three years, who
resides with his aunt, Mrs. John MALONEY, of Binghamton, N. Y. His father
survives with one brother, William KELLEY of Washington, and one sister,
Mrs. James BLANKINSOP, of Cleveland, Ohio.
Mr. KELLEY was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and of
B. P. O. Elks lodge, No. 266, of Bakersfield, Calif.
The body was taken charge of by Deputy Coroner H. F. HUMPHRIES, of this
city, and was taken to Washington Saturday.
Died: On Thursday morning, May 10, 1917, at her home in Station street,
Mrs. Ella JORDAN, wife of the Rev. J. P. JORDAN, pastor of the First
Presbyterian church of McDonald.
Mrs. JORDAN had not been in vigorous health for some time, but her
indisposition was not considered serious by her or her friends and family,
and she continued her active duties in home and church up to the day of her
death.
Beloved by all who knew her, active in every good work, especially in the
various societies connected with the church, she will be much missed by a
large circle of acquaintances and friends. Rev. JORDAN and the two sons
have the sympathy of the entire community in their sudden bereavement.
Mrs. JORDAN is survived by her husband, the Rev. J. P. JORDAN, two sons,
Paul, a student in Pitt University, and Howard, a student in the University
of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Pickle of Coatesville,
Pa., and Mrs. KROUSE, wife of the Rev. W. P. KROUSE of Stanhope, N. J.

Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of the Rev. J. M. DUFF of
