WALKER, PHILLIPS, KELVINGTON, MORROW, PHILLIPS, MEREDITH, FINNEGAN

At the home of his son, A. P. WALKER, near Paris, on the 1st inst.,
Alexander WALKER, aged 86 years. The funeral was on Monday and the
interment was at Eldersville
Alexander WALKER was born on the WALKER homestead between Burgettstown and
Eldersville. His father, Alexander PALKER, came to that section from the
East in early days. His wife, who died some 18 years ago, was Miss Sarah
SHARP, of a family well known to former residents of the north part of the
county. There are four sons and one daughter in the family of
deceased-Reason, married and living in Washington; John, who was married,
left a family and is now deceased; T. J. WALKER, a resident of Third St.,
McDonald; Alexander P., with whom the deceased made his home in his old
days; and Mrs. Hannah (deceased) who was the wife of C. T. COSGROVE, of
Eldersville, and mother of Mrs. C. C. MCGREW, of Fourth St. Alexander
WALKER (the late deceased) was a Presbyterian and for many years was a
prominent member of Dr. STOCKTON's Cross Creek congregation. He was a good
businessman, having at one time owned three farms and a large grocery I
Pittsburg, and some years ago he was the owner of the Red Lion Hotel,
Pittsburg.
At the residence of her brother, DeKalb PHILLIPS, in Cecil, on the 31st
ult., Miss Mary S. PHILLIPS, aged 56 years.
Deceased was a daughter of the late Aaron G. PHILLIPS. Se was dumb from
birth, but all her senses were unusually acute. She was cheerful and
affectionate among her friends, but when alone she lapsed into a melancholy
that indicated that her inner life was in some respects a tragedy. After a
long wait she has gone to her father and mother whom she almost worshipped.
Aug. 2, William Henry, son of Mr. Wm. KELVINGTON, in his 8th year.
Interment at Imperial; funeral services conducted by Rev. Mr. JORDAN.
At Carnegie, on Sunday, Mrs. Agnes H. MORROW, widow of J. C. MORROW,
formerly of Robinson Twp., aged 83 years.
At Reissing, two-year-old child of Mr. John PHILLIPS.
At Jumbo, infant child of Mr. MEREDITH.
Hugh FINNEGAN, a veteran oilman, brother of M. FINNEGAN, died at the
Academy building, where he boarded, at Oakdale, on the 30th. He was 62
years old. The remains were taken to McKean County for burial.
