Found in the Pittsburgh Press on February 29 1904:
Mrs AMANDA C KEMP, widow of JOHN C KEMP, died at Saginaw, Mich., in the 70th
year of her age. The body will arrive from Saginaw tomorrow morning and
after services at the chapel of the Allegheny Cemetery, the interment will
be made in that cemetery. Mrs KEMP was a resident of Pittsburgh until 1884,
when she moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., where she resided for two years,
afterward moving to Saginaw. Her husband was for years a passenger
conductor on the Pittsburgh division of the Pennsylvania Railroad until his
death in 1876. Mrs KEMP is survived by the following six children: Mrs
EMERY P EBBERTS of No. 6023 Broad Street, this city; Mrs GEORGE J LITTLE of
Saginaw Mich; Mrs GRANT VAN FOSSEN, late of Sharon PA; Miss EDNA E KEMP of
Grand Rapids Mich; HARRY E KEMP of St Paul Minn; GEORGE W KEMP of
Cincinnati; and MARK F KEMP of Lansing Mich.
Mrs MARY LOOMIS BECK, wife of WILLIAM P BECK, died at her home, No. 419
South Highland Avenue, yesterday afternoon. For years she had been a
sufferer from asthma and last Thursday afternoon she was stricken with an
acute attack of bronchitis which caused her death. Mrs BECK was 53 years
old. She was a daughter of ROBERT C and JANE McC LOOMIS and was born in
Allegheny June 1 1851. For over 40 years Mrs BECK was a member of the
Second Presbyterian Church and she always took great interest in church
work. Two years ago Mrs BECK lost a daughter, Miss MARGARET and five months
ago another daughter, Mrs J WHITNEY HESS, died. (balance of obit not on

name or age on this person; however, there is some good family info that may
help someone.) For over five generations, the old HOPE homestead has stood
the test of time and is now housing the present line of the HOPE family, Mrs
RANEY's parents. Mrs RANEY had been a life-long member of the Carnegie
Methodist Episcopal Church. Besides her parents, she is survived by a son,
STEWART, 10 years old, and a daughter, LUCILE, six years old, and three
sisters and three brothers: Mrs BEARD, wife of AUGUSTUS A BEARD, editor of
the Carnegie Union; Mrs JOHN HEPPLEWHITE of Carnegie; Mrs GOODMAN FRYER of
Bridgeville; and JOSEPH, JAMES, and WALTER STEWART, all of Carnegie.
