JOHNSTON, NOAH

A negro named Charles JOHNSTON, for several years a resident of McDonald,
was shot dead by Policeman LAKE at California, Pa., Monday morning,
attempting to escape arrest. The coroner's jury exonerated the officer.
Witnesses testified that JOHNS threatened the officer's life. While in
McDonald JOHNSTON did not get into any serious trouble, but he failed to
support his wife, and was considered shifty.

Mrs. Annie (SMALL) NOAH died at her home in Carnegie last week after a
short illness. She formerly lived near here.
