Mrs. James, Heart Victim at Age 63
A heart attack took the life of a long time Natrona Heights resident this morning (Jan. 31, 1965) when Mrs. Hazel (Muir) James died unexpectedly in her home, 1509 Second St. Death occurred at 1 o'clock.
Mrs. James came to the Heights area in 1926 from Bolivar, where she was born on May 14, 1901 to the late Robert and Jeannette( Wynn) Muir.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bolivar.
Survivors include her husband: four sons: Donald C. and Richard A. James , Fawn Township: Robert L, Oakland, Md. and Leslie M. North Pike Road, Sarver; two sisters: Mrs. Alice Henderson, Bolivar and Mrs. Lena Stiffey, Pitcairn; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Helen L. James, 72, Mtn Lake Park died Friday March 25, 1994 at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Dec. 26, 1921 in Oakland she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Clara (Setzer) Warnick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert L James in 1981.
Survivors include one daughter. Margaret Weggland, Levittown, N. Y.; one son Donald A James, Poolesville; one sister, Lucille Marsh, Oakland; one brother, Forrest Warnick, Millerville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Sunday, March 27, with the Rev. Ralph Reedy officiating.
The body was cremated, with the cremains interred in the Oakland Cemetery.

Jacob James
Jacob James aged 74 years died at Bolivar on December 3. He served his country as a member of Company A 54th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers, was a member of the G. A. R. Union Veteran Legion and an honorary member of Camp 730, P. O. S. A. of Bolivar and all these organizations attended his funeral.
He is survived by his widow and the following children: Elsie, wife of George Garland, and Lewis and Thomas, of Bolivar; Gertrude wife of Alva Forsha, of Blairsville; Harry of Cherry tree; John of Montana; Maude, wife of J. B. Hughes of Louisville, Ky. and Myrtle wife of W. T. Adams of Salins. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

JACOB JAMES DEAD
Another Veteran of the Fifty-Fourth Regiment Answers Final Summons.

Bolivar, Dec. 9.---The funeral of Jacob James, who died here on Saturday night, took place on Tuesday when services were conducted by the Rev. Oscar B Emerson, pastor of the local M. E. Church. Interment was made in the West Bolivar Cemetery. Mr James' death was due to kidney trouble. He was born near Conemaugh Furnace in 1835 and served throughout the Rebellion of company A, Fifty-fourth Regiment, P. I. V. under the late Capt. John L decker. Mr James enlisted in Johnstown and had an enviable record as a soldier. In September 1864 during an engagement at Winchester, Va. a piece of shell struck him in the face knocking him to the ground. "There goes James" cried one of his comrades, but the brave little soldier immediately jumped to his feet and replied, "He has like Hell" Mr James remained with his company until the summer of 1865. He is survived by his wife and several children.

Jacob James enlisted August 6, 1861, from Westmoreland County, Pa and was mustered into the United States service at Harrisburg, Pa. to serve three years as a private in Company A, 54th Reg. Pa. Vol. Infantry under Capt. John Sutter, and Col. Jacob M. Campbell. the regiment was assigned to the First Brig. 2nd Div. 18th Corp. Army of the Potomac. Jacob James shared his fortunes in all surrenders, as follows: Battle Creek June 1862; guard and picket duty on board O. R. R. until January 1863; engaged Gilmore's Guerillas, Jan. 1864; honorably discharged and re-enlisted as a veteran Feb. 10, 1864 in Comapny A 54th Penns. Vol. Infantry; engaged at New Market, May 15, 1864; New Hope, June 5, 1864; Lexington, June 11, 1864; Lynchburg, June 15, 1864; Oregon. Aug. 22, 1864 where he was wounded over the left eye and sent to McEllen Hospital, Philadelphia for six weeks; regained regiment at Winchester. Engaged at Cedar Creek, Oct. 19, 1864; fall of Petersburg, April 2, 1865; High !
Bridge, April 6, 1865, where he was captured and sent to Annapoils, Ind. where he remained on parole until finally and honorably discharged May 3, 1865 by reason of the end of the war.

Lewis G. James, 81, of 916 Roup Ave., Brackenridge, died unexpectedly last evening in Fair Winds Convalescent Home, South Buffalo Township.
Mr. James, ill for a month, entered the home Tuesday and seemed in normal health yesterday.
A resident of Bolivar most of his life he moved to Brackenridge 10 years ago.
He was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp. Johnstown plant and a member of Bolivar Daughters of America.
Mr. James was born on Jan. 18, 1880 in Westmoreland County to the late Jacob and Mary A Davis James.
He leaves two sons; Ernest C. Natrona Heights and Sherman E. Brackenridge, with whom he made his home: three sisters; Mrs. Gertrude Forsha, Blairsville, Mrs. Myrtle Garland and Mrs. Elsie Garland, both of Bolivar, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. His wife, Mrs. Mary A. James, died in 1950.
Friends may call at the Robert E. Peters Funeral home 1521 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights from 7 to 9 this evening and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Friends will be received in the John A. Featherstone Funeral Home Bolivar, Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. and on Saturday until services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Fort Palmer Cemetery, Fairfield Township.

James--Mrs. Mary Agnes, 67, died at home, West Bolivar Sept. 28, 1950. Born Aug. 7, 1883, Indiana County. Survived by husband, Lewis James, and these children: Ernest C James, Natrona Heights: Sherman E James Brackenridge, Pa. and Mrs Maude McMahon Natrona. Sister of Flo Mueller, Bolivar. Six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Member of Bolivar Council 88, Daughters of America and Church of Christ, West Bolivar. Service 2 p.m. Sunday, Church of Christ; interment Ft. Palmer Cemetery, West Fairfield Township, Friends received at late home. Arrangements in charge of Featherson Funeral Home, Bolivar.

Robert Keith "BJ" James, 44, of Carnegie, formerly of Fawn died Thursday (Aug. 13, 1998) in Titusville hospital.
Born Sept. 7, 1953 in Natrona Heights, Harrison, he lived in Fawn before moving to Carnegie.
Mr. James was a 1971 graduate of Highlands High School and a 1973 graduate of Penn State New Kensington, Upper Burrell.
He was a production representative at A.D.P., Findley, for the past 25 years.
Mr. James was a member of the Millerstown United Methodist Church softball team in Fawn.
He was an avid fan of Penn State, especially football, the Penguins and the Steelers. He also enjoyed camping in the Tionesta area.
Survivors include his parents, Donald C. and Eleanor Dunning James of Fawn and a sister, Donna K. James of Fawn.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home Inc. 1522 Carlisle St. Natrona Heights, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Thomas Brown, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.

Robert L. James, 60, of Shenandoah Avenue, Loch Lynn, Md., formerly of Natrona Heights, died Friday (Jan. 23, 1981) in Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Bolivar to Ernest C and Hazel Muir James.
Mr James was a partner in Oakland Tire Service for more than 30 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Proctor Kildow Post 71 of the American legion.
Survivors include his widow, Helen L Warnick James; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Weggeland of Levittown, NY; one son Donald A James of Poolesville MD; three brothers, Donald C and Richard A both of Tarentum, and Leslie M of Saxonburg; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A service was held in Oakland. the family suggests contributions be made to the Southern Garrett County Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 256, Oakland, Md. 21550

James, Sherman Ellsworth

Sherman E. James, 80, of 220 Springhouse Lane, New Wilmington, and formerly of Brackenridge, died yesterday (March 24, 1989) at 9 a.m. in the Overlook Nursing Home, New Wilmington.
Born Aug. 15, 1906 in Bolivar, Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Lewis G. and Mary Devlin James.
Mr. James was employed as an assistant superintendent at the bar mill in Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp's Brackenridge Works, retiring in 1971 after 43 years service.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years. Agnes Ewing James of New Wilmington; a daughter Mrs. Richard (Mary Jean) Schneider of Mercer; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ernest James and a sister, Maude McMahon.
There will be no public visitation. Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, 1521 Freeport Road Natrona Heights. The Rev. Robert L Mitchell of All Saints Episcopal Church, Pittsburgh will officiate.
The family will meet friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park. Lower Burrell. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.
