Joseph LAURENT, of Sturgeon, died Thursday afternoon of lockjaw, brought about by a bullet bound in his leg. Three weeks ago he was standing in a crowd on Main street, Sturgeon, watching a dispute between several miners. E. TONNAGE, a miner, discharged his revolver four times, it is said, and one of the bullets lodged in LAURENT's leg. TONNAGE escaped. The case was reported to the coroner.
Mrs. Hannah MUSTMEYER, aged 92 years, did at the home of her daughter near Hickory Friday morning of old age. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30, interment at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
Mary Elizabeth, nine-day-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. M. WITHINGTON, died Saturday morning at the family home in Marietta, Ohio, and the remains were brought here Sunday and interred in Arlington cemetery, Mrs. WITHINGTON, son Wayne and daughters Eunis and Eva and Mrs. S. R. SMITH accompanied the remains
Pearson KIGHTLINGER died at his home at Enlow, last Saturday, after a week's suffering from burns received in a boiler explosion at an oil well near that place. He was 26 years of age, and leaves a wife and one child, and five brothers, three of whom are well known residents of this vicinity. His wife is a daughter of Mr. DILLON, of Oakdale, and they had been married only about three years. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. MCCOMBS, interment Tuesday in Oakdale cemetery, a large number from Imperial and Enlow neighborhood accompanying the funeral to Oakdale. The untimely taking off of this young man was a great shock to his many friends, and his family have the sympathy of all in their distress.
Rosina Hilda, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. KENNEWEG, died suddenly on Nov. 17th at her home near McDonald. She was born near McDonald on Dec. 16, 1883. For a number of years she was in ill health; immediate cause of death was heart disease from which she had been suffering for some time. The deceased was a consistent member of the M. E. Church of McDonald for eight years. She is mourned not only by the family by whom she was greatly beloved but also by a large number of lady friends whose love she won by her amiable disposition and character. On Sunday afternoon a large number of friends and relatives attended the funeral which was conducted at the late residence by the pastor the Rev Wm. M. BUZZA, assisted by Rev. W. D. IRONS. Interment was at Arlington cemetery.
Quite suddenly on Monday night, the 20th died Mrs. Ann HOGAN HARDGROVE, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Oakdale. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Julia HAYES, of Birmingham, where she had gone on a visit. Deceased was 65 years of age and was born in Cudnreigh, County Claire, Ireland, coming to this country with her parents when about 15 yeas old. She was married to Mr. HARDGROVE in Pittsburg on Dec. 9, 1862. They lived first at Walkers Mills, where Mr. H. was a foreman on the railroad. Moving to Oakdale about 1868, they have lived there ever since. Mrs. HARDGROVE was always a consistent devout member of the Catholic Church. Her husband survives her, and they had the following children-George C., of Oakdale; Michael, of Ellsworth; Henry, dead; Joseph, of Youngstown, Ohio; Wm. Stephen, dead; Elizabeth, dead; Mrs. Julia HAYS, and Misses Margaret Mary and Anna at home.
