John NOLDER, 67 years old, died on Tuesday morning, March 8, at
the home of his son W. P. NOLDER, in Lancaster, Ohio.

Mr. NOLDER had been in ill health for the past few years and
last November left McDonald to spend the winter in St. Cloud, Florida, in
hopes of recuperating. His health did not improve, however, and he went to
the home of his son. While there he was taken worse and gradually declined
until his death Tuesday morning.

Mr. NOLDER had been a resident of this place since the beginning
of the oil excitement. He located here at that time and was actively
engaged in oil interests until a short time ago, when he was forced to
retire from active service owing to his declining health.

For many years he was a member of the "Big Four" Oil Company.
The other members of this concern are Lewis LEHLEY, J. F. BOYD and Burgess
John WILES.

Mr. NOLDER was a Civil War soldier and served during the entire
war with distinction. He was a member of Co. G., 11 Pa. R. V. C., V. I.,
and was but eighteen years of age when he enlisted in the army. He was
twice captured by the Confederate forces but was exchanged both times. He
participated in the battles of Gettysburg, Fredericksburg and several other
of the most important of the war. He was a member of the Hugh MCNEAL G. A.
R. Post No. 447 and was always prominently identified with the affairs of
the organization.

He was twice married. His first wife was Miss Barbara EUCHLER,
to whom he was united in marriage on April 11, 1867. She died September 3,
1906. The following children survive by this marriage: Mrs. R. D. WHITE,
Mrs. Emma E. JOHNSON and Mrs. P. A.SHRECONGOST and William P. of Lancaster,
Ohio.

On December 12, 1908, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Julia
PIERCE, who died June 9, 1909.

The body of Mr. NOLDER was brought to his home at this place on
Wednesday. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church, Thursday
afternoon, the pastor, the Rev. J. P. JORDAN, in charge. Interment was made
in Robinson's Run cemetery.



S. A. RHOADS, supervising principal of Cecil township schools,
died at his home at Venice at 7:30 o'clock, Tuesday morning, following an
attack of typhoid fever. He was stricken with the disease about the first
of February and his condition soon became serious. There were, however,
chances of his recovery until he suffered a relapse about ten days ago and
since that time he had been in a critical condition. Monday the fever had
practically left him and death resulted from a general collapse, brought
about by his weakened condition. He was aged about 30 years and is survived
by his wife, whose maiden name was Mary BRUNER. His parents reside at Sandy
Lake, Mercer County, to which place the remains were forwarded on Wednesday,
following brief funeral services at his late home.

Prof. RHOADS graduated from Grove City College in the class of
1906 and chose the teaching profession as vocation in life. In this he was
very successful. For two years he was principal of the schools at Fairview,
near McKeesport, at which time he lived in Braddock. He then came to Cecil
township and fro two years he has been superintendent of the schools. In
this he did excellent work until stricken with this disease which terminated
fatally. He was held in highest esteem by the school board and his work was
aggressive and efficient.

Prof. RHOADS was a member of the Sandy Lake Methodist Episcopal
Church, but while living at Venice attended the United Presbyterian Church
of which the Rev. Theo. LITTELL is pastor. He was active in the affairs of
the Young People's Society and the church will miss him.



Philip, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. SMITH of North
avenue, died at the West Penn Hospital in Pittsburg on Friday morning, March
4, at 4:14 o'clock, from the effects of injures received while coasting on
the evening of February 23. He was a sturdy lad of nine years, and the
mishap that ended in his death is deplored by the entire community. Funeral
services were held Saturday afternoon in the First U. P. Church of McDonald,
conducted by they pastor, the Rev. Dr. IRONS, assisted by the Rev. J. P.
JORDAN of the Presbyterian Church. The sanctuary was filled with
sympathizers of the bereaved family. Interment was made in the family plot
in Robinson's Run cemetery, beside the infant brother that was buried on the
Tuesday before.



Mrs. Alice MORGAN MCCREARY, wife of J. Campbell MCCREARY, died
Wednesday morning, March 9, following an illness of four weeks, of nervous
trouble. Mrs. MCCREARY had been apparently improving until Tuesday, when
she suddenly became worse and her death soon followed. She was aged 48
years. Mrs. MCCREARY was the daughter of the late John and Margaret MORGAN
of Woodrow. She was a member of the Hickory United Presbyterian church.
Besides her husband, who is a well known stone contractor, Mrs. MCCREARY
leaves seven children, John, Alice, Myrna, Margaret, Jennie, Clyde and
Wilber. Two sisters, Mrs. CUMMINS of Washington and Miss Jennie MORGAN of
Marmaros, Mo., and one brother, Laury MORGAN of Marmaros, Mo., also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the interment
to be in the Hickory cemetery.



Friday morning, March 4, at three o'clock, William PARKINSON
passed away after a lingering illness. He is survived by his widow and the
following children; Leroy of Jersey City, and Clarence, Vernora, Garavan and
Hazel at home. Funeral services were held at his late residence on Sunday
afternoon, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Dr. KERR of Candor, assisted by
the Rev. J. J. DAVIS of the M. E. Church and the Rev. T. B. MARLIN of the
Baptist Church. Interment was made in Center cemetery.
